In broad day light between the hours of 10 am and 3 pm on the 20th of May 2015, the HZJ75 Landcruiser ute that tows the No bauxite mining Here sign was stolen from the corner of Jingaling Brook and Toodyay Rd in Morangup, where the trailer was parked on display. The trailer was unhooked, the side window broken and the ignition ripped out and thrown in the paddock.
It was obvious that the person or persons who stole the ute wanted to leave a strong message, as rather than cut the fence like they did some 6 or so weeks ago when they tried to steal the No bauxite mining Here trailer, they drove down the paddock and rammed through a set of double gates that were chained and locked, this would have caused considerable damage to the ute, given the damage to the gates.
The ute and trailer are pretty well known in the area and were most recently seen at the Wundowie Iron Festival last Sunday and the ute is used to carry equipment for AHMAG to different venues such as the Perth Garden Festival and would have been used this weekend to help the setup of the Gidgegannup Small Farm Field Day.
The message we would like to send out is this, YOU can the trailer, YOU can steal the ute, but we will never be silent until BAJV and BRL are stopped from mining HERE and leave the Hills and the Avon Valley.
